Microsoft update on Malware Detection
Good evening all (again)!
Alright, so this was WAAAAY faster than I anticipated, especially after reading some feedback some users had with Microsoft Security team.
Here is the response from Microsoft following my ticket submission about the build for Bill Planner (version 1.3):
Of course, this is a super (good) news!
Overall, this means that the app (Bill Planner) doesn't exhibit any malicious behavior and updated the definitions in Windows Defender to exclude the app signature to be flagged.
I have already taken the steps to personally update my Windows Defender definitions (this is local, and doesn't affect anybody else), but this should be rolled out in a future Windows Update. In the meantime, the three steps provided by Microsoft here are to manually update the Windows Defender definitions.
Until the next Windows Update is rolled out (this can take a long time), there is a high probability that the app will still be flagged as Malicious or Malware by Windows Defender. You can take the same three steps I did to manually update Windows Defender (I will add them to the readme.md
file), include the .exe
file as an exclusion in Windows Defender (this must be done locally --steps to do this will also be written in the readme.md
going forward), or simply ignore it.
Of course, going forward, this should not be an issue anymore, but may have to re-submit each new build to Microsoft team (not sure about that --I'll educate myself on that).
Have a great rest of the week,
Cheers!
